Coastal Makeover for STENSTORP kitchen island

I loved my Stenstorp Island, but there was one thing that really bugged me. Anyone walking by the kitchen could see all the junk I had crammed on the shelves. I wanted to hide the mess and make the island fit more with the coastal decor of my beach house and look more permanent and custom.

So I came up with a plan to NaNo it: The NaNo itself was very simple. I cut some scraps of beadboard to size to fit between the legs on the sides of the island.

I attached the beadboard to the existing frame with my nail gun and some liquid nails.

To finish it off I added a small piece of molding along the bottom edge. Both the beadboard and the molding fit in between the legs so it looks like it was always meant to be there.

Finally I caulked the edges and the nail holes. I then stained the countertop to match the rest of my kitchen using Minwax Gel Stain in Walnut and Wipe On Poly in Clear Gloss.
